Considered to be a leading organisation that addresses emerging topics in entrepreneurship, the GCEC has become an important vehicle through which global entrepreneurship ecosystems can work together to share best practices, develop programmes and initiatives, and collaborate and support each other. GCEC helps advance, strengthen, and celebrate the role of universities in educating the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. This year’s conference was the largest ever with 578 attendees representing 275 schools from around the world, including Babson College, Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Rice University, Yale University, University of Oxford, King’s College London, and Imperial College London.
LBS won in the ‘Outstanding Student Engagement & Leadership’ category at the GCEC awards which were held at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, on 29 October 2022.
A GCEC spokesperson said: "This award honours a centre that amplifies their impact by achieving high levels of student engagement and student leadership in its entrepreneurship programs. Selection criteria includes level of student engagement, impact of student leaders on Center and variety of students’ projects."
Representing LBS and IEPC at the awards, Rubina Kalra, Senior Programme and Engagement Manager, explained that the School took part in one of two tracks based on size, and won in the category of universities with 5000 students or less.
“The nomination was based on our fantastic student-led initiatives such as LBS Launchpad, a pre-accelerator programme that is open to aspiring entrepreneurs from all backgrounds,” said Rubina.
Rubina added: “The Institute of Entrepreneurship and Private Capital aims to inspire entrepreneurs to pursue innovation and impact society by equipping them with the tools, expertise and insights to drive growth. The IEPC team is small but ambitious, and our outputs as a business school are largely amplified because of the highly engaged student leaders who take ownership of running initiatives such as Launchpad pre-accelerator programme, the HackLBS event and the Booster early-stage venture competition. These initiatives provide LBS students with opportunities to test their startup ideas while building valuable professional networks.”
