Experience

Margaret Ormiston is on the faculty in Management at George Washington University. Prior to joining GW, Margaret was on the faculty at London Business School. She received her doctorate in Business Administration and Industrial Relations from University of California, Berkeley. Prior to obtaining her Ph.D., Margaret worked as a research analyst at the Center for Effective Organizations, at the University of Southern California and as a research analyst at a litigation consulting firm in Los Angeles. Her research examines the underlying psychological processes that influence team and organizational performance in small groups as well as top management teams. Margaret’s research is published in leading academic journals including Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Psychological Science, Personnel Psychology, and Leadership Quarterly as well as other outlets including Harvard Business Review, Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, MSNBC, National Public Radio, Ted Talk.

Margaret teaches on the PhD, MBA and undergraduate programs at GW as well as at London Business School. She has been awarded the 2023, 2022, 2021, 2019 and 2018 Student Choice Award for Teaching Excellence and nominated for the 2021 and 2018 university-wide Bender Teaching Award. She has taught and consulted with numerous global and start-up organizations including Ericsson, Prudential, Deutsche Bank, Oman Oil, HSBC, Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, and Vinted

Experience

Laura Giurge is an award-winning organizational scholar who explores the science of how to do, and be, our best at work. She is currently an Assistant Professor at London School of Economics (LSE), where she is leading a hands-on course for executive and full-time MBA students on the science of time at work and beyond. She is an expert in organizational behavior, specializing in workplace well-being and the new future of work. She published her research in premier academic journals, such as Organizational Behavioural and Human Decision Processes, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Nature Human Behaviour, and The Leadership Quarterly. Her research has been recognized with various awards and grants including the 2020 Best Paper Award at the Academy of Management.

She is passionate about science communication and has written about her insights in popular press articles, such as Harvard Business Review, Forbes, and The Wall Street Journal. Laura consults with and delivers engaging keynotes to prominent companies, including Microsoft and McKinsey. Laura’s findings resonate worldwide and have been featured in The New York Times, Financial Times, and The Economist.

Laura earned her PhD in Management within 4 years from Erasmus University Rotterdam. She holds two master’s degrees (graduated with honors) in Economics and Business and in Human Resources Management from the University of Groningen. In 2011, she won a prestigious Dutch National Scholarship for exceptional academic achievements and her master thesis won the best research paper award of 2012. Prior to joining LSE, she has been a postdoctoral research fellow at Cornell University and London Business School, and a visiting scholar at Harvard Business School.
