Launched in recent years, MBA students have the opportunity to undertake a concentration in Technology and Analytics. The concentration cements the skills of MBAs at LBS within the technology space, giving them the academic toolkit they need to pivot into - or accelerate existing careers - within the sector. The concentration includes courses in key areas such as Analytics, Product Management, Marketing, Fintech and Data Science.
Created during the pandemic, Digital for Impact connects London Business School students virtually with SMEs operating in emerging economies such as Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya and Nigeria. This cross-programme elective partners student groups with clients who need to innovate in order to remain competitive and contribute to the recovery of their local economies. Working remotely, you’ll support clients by generating tangible business recommendations for specific business challenges. With support from faculty, regional on-the-ground contacts, and our extensive alumni network, you’ll have the opportunity to harness the power of digital to have a profound impact.
The Entrepreneurship Lab (TEL) is designed to help early-stage technology ventures to grow. It equips them with unmatched access to decision-makers in the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the UK and beyond. Founders also have the opportunity to raise capital. Teams of students from London Business School are selected to work closely with TEL founders throughout the programme to discover and deliver on key strategic insights – be that business development, go-to-market, or fundraising. Students are also welcome to apply to TEL with their own early-stage start-ups.
Be exposed to new perspectives and global connections. Our Global Experiences take you out of your comfort zone to examine different business approaches and cultures in international settings. Led by expert faculty, each Global Experience follows an academic theme, including several focussed on tech related topics, with recent destinations including Tel Aviv & Ramallah, San Francisco & Silicon Valley, Dubai & Abu Dhabi and Austin.
You will spend an intensive, immersive week, gaining an in-depth view of a country’s business culture via company visits, expert panels, workshops and guest speakers. You’ll interact meaningfully with major corporations, micro-entrepreneurs, faculty, alumni and others in the LBS global community. Debate the optimum conditions for fostering innovation, examine the implications of tech booms or help a tech start-up tackle a pressing business issue.
Electives are a key part of the learning experience across all of our Masters programmes. They allow you to tailor your learning across subject areas such as Economics, Management Science and Operations, Marketing, Organisational Behaviour and Strategy and Entrepreneurship. We have an extensive elective offering, recent courses on offer have included:
Our Graduate Masters and MBA students also have the opportunity to cement key data fluency skills with dedicated skills sessions. Recent initiatives across the School have included Python, Tableau and Advanced Excel modules.
There are over 80+ clubs to be found at LBS, and between them over 1000+ events and initiatives are hosted annually, including professional conferences, hackathons, treks and more. Aside from contributing to the thriving school community, our clubs offer students an opportunity to connect with others with similar interests and cement your network outside your immediate cohort.
The Tech and Media Club is heavily involved in shaping the technology agenda at LBS, and regularly collaborates with faculty, Career Centre, alumni and companies to deliver popular speaker events, skills sessions and some of LBS’s most in-demand student treks to global Tech centres such as: Dublin, Silicon Valley, New York, Berlin & LA.
Other clubs for those interested in the Tech sector may include the Blockchain Society, Entrepreneurship Club, Social Impact Club, Design & Innovation, and Women in Business Club and many more.
Armed with a technical background in Engineering and years of experience in Product Management within Financial Services, I wanted to pursue the LBS MBA to complement my skills with a strategy mindset. Through the MBA, I learned how to elevate my perspectives and built a data-driven, strategy toolkit, that enabled me to mix both strategy and execution, and create end to end impact in global organisations.
I chose LBS because of the emphasis placed on student led impact, the collaborative nature of the School and the way the programme adapts to an ever-changing market. When I started my MBA, I could see that increasing the emphasis on building our students skills in Tech would create fantastic new opportunities for years to come. That was the start of an amazing journey to transform Tech @ LBS, truly mixing skills in tech, media, strategy and product.
As a student, I was privileged to lead the Tech & Media Club and this unique position enabled me to work with departments across the School to drive the creation of a Tech & Analytics MBA Concentration and to introduce data-fluency elements (such as SQL & Tableau) as part of our skills offering across the MBA and other programmes. We have completely transformed our offering in the Tech & Media space in recent years, and I'm thrilled to see these initiatives going from strength to strength, creating a lasting impact for the future. Indeed, in my current role, I truly bring together my tech background with the MBA, and cover strategy, execution and everything in between!

Head of Technology Careers at London Business School
Experience
Over the past decade, we’ve seen a growing number of London Business School alumni progress their careers outside the traditional sectors of investment banking and management consultancy. While just 7% of the MBA 2011 cohort sourced employment in the tech sector, the figure rose to 26% for the MBA 2021 class. In 2012, 15% of MBA students pursued internships in technology businesses, and in 2021, that number tripled.
Back in 2016, I led the creation of the first dedicated tech-sector team in the LBS Career Centre and since then we’ve developed partnerships and collaborations with many of the innovator firms that have emerged following the financial crisis, holding regular networking and recruiting events with our community. In recent years, we have worked closely with incubators and venture builders like to secure projects with startups.
In the 2021/2022 academic year, I’m pleased to say we had over 100 companies from across the technology industry attend one of our recruitment events to connect with the student community. Events included recruitment presentations, company visits or attendance at one of our Recruitment Evenings held throughout the spring term which focused on FinTech, Tech Startups & Scaleup and HealthTech.

Download the MBA employment reportThis two-day open house event launched by LBS alumna and Zinc co-founder Ella Goldner MBA2011 is now run by the LBS Career Centre. It offers aspiring tech-sector leaders, both LBS and non-LBS, the chance to connect with some of the most exciting companies in London’s technology and innovation ecosystem.
This joint venture between seed investor Seedcamp and LBS Career Centre connects MBA and Masters in Finance (MiF) students with promising startups from Seedcamp’s portfolio to help them work on some of their strategic and tactical challenges.
This student-run event by the Technology and Media Club (TMC) showcases insights from those working in product roles in tech. Taking place over three and a half days, it has previously featured LBS alumni from the likes of Meta, Amazon, Google, Hopin and Depop.
Set up by the TMC in conjunction with the Career Centre and designed for students looking to make a career switch from a non-technical background into the tech sector, this programme offers students alumni mentors, workshops and training.
