Experience

Professor Aneeta Rattan’s research interests focus on mindsets and intergroup relations (stereotyping, prejudice, and inequity). In one programme of research, she studies mindsets that promote belonging, commitment, and achievement among minorities and women in the face of stereotypes and implicit bias. In another programme of research, she investigates the mindsets that help individuals, organisations, and societies foster positive interactions among diverse group members (across gender, race/ethnicity, and sexual orientation status), even after incidents of explicit bias.

Professor Rattan’s research has been published in the Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Psychological Science, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, and the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology. She has received multiple research grants from major funding agencies in the United States. Her research has also been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes magazine, and Huffington Post among others.

Dr Nick de Leon is a Teaching Fellow at London Business School, Head of Executive Education and Knowledge Exchange at the Royal College of Art and Professor of Systems Design at Liverpool Hope University. He is an expert in the Design of Customer Experience and Service Innovation and founded the Service Design department at the RCA; the largest of its kind worldwide. His research explores the interface between the design discipline, digital technology and business innovation and specifically the role of service design as an agent of change in the development of public policy, business strategy and organisational transformation.He is also the academic lead for the Terra Carta Design Lab, an initiative created by Sir Jony Ive with HM King Charles III to use the power of design in the service of people, planet and nature.

He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Art, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a member of the Royal Commission for the 1851 Exhibition and a Director and Trustee of the UN sponsored alliance - Design For Good, a collaboration of 8 Global Corporations with the RCA that engages hundreds of designers worldwide to develop breakthrough solutions that address the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Prior to joining Academia he had a corporate career in Design, Product Development and Business with IBM, beginning his career as an Industrial Designer at IBM's R&D Labs in the UK before working in the European and Global Headquarters of the company in a variety of senior executive roles including Director of Marketing, IBM Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Nitish's research interests focus on global supply chains, and on the use of big data and empirical methods to improve supply chain management.

Nitish holds a PhD in Management Science from INSEAD. His research interests focus on global supply chains, and on the use of big data and empirical methods to improve supply chain management. His work has appeared in Management Science, and Operations Research and won prestigious student paper competitions. Before joining the PhD programme at INSEAD, Nitish worked at a real estate firm and in the technology industries. Nitish has an MBA degree from the Indian School of Business and Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Mathematics and Computing from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India.

Dr Desmecht’s main area of expertise lies at the intersection of Strategy, Finance and Governance. She has done extensive research in the area of value creation in established companies.

Dr Desmecht has 30 years of experience as an international leader and senior executive in companies ranging from large global corporations to highly focused technology-oriented start-ups. She also combines her executive experience with consulting experience with McKinsey and ATKearney, where she was a member of the European Leadership Team. She has consulted with global companies in the areas of consumer, technology, fashion and grocery retail, luxury and data analytics. Employers and Clients include Procter & Gamble, Nokia, Samsonite, Harrods, Georg Jensen, Wedgwood as well as Private Equity Funds Bain Capital, Ares Management, the Ontario Pension Fund, KPS Capital Partners and Investcorp. Dr Desmecht’s experience splits evenly between Publicly-listed companies, Private Equity portfolio companies and Family Businesses. To date, Dr Desmecht is a Senior Advisor and Board Member for Private Equity, a regular contributor to Executive Programs at the London Business School and a regular Keynote speaker on Strategy in both academic and corporate contexts.

A social psychologist by training, Professor Daniel A Effron teaches about ethics, influence, and other topics related to the science of people in organizations. Before joining London Business School, he taught negotiations at the Kellogg School of Management, and was a fellow of the Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard University.

His research examines the psychology of (1) how people act in ethically questionable ways without feeling unethical, and (2) what shapes people’s judgments of others’ unethical behaviour. His current projects focus on judgments of hypocrisy, fake news, and what leads people to let leaders off the hook for dishonesty.

Professor Effron's research has appeared in top scholarly publications such as the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Psychological Science, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, and Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin. His work has been discussed in media outlets such as The New York Times, Financial Times, BBC News, The Atlantic, Forbes, and Bloomberg. Named one of the "Best 40 Business Professors Under 40" by Poets & Quants, he received teaching awards from the London Business School MBA classes of 2015 and 2020, and his doctoral work was honoured with an American Psychological Association Dissertation Award.
