Academic Focus

Dr Andrew MacLennan is one of the world's leading experts on strategy execution. His work focuses on how organisations translate strategy into action and how emergent activities can be aligned to deliver strategic objectives—especially through management experimentation.

Experience

With a background in startups and consulting, Andrew now splits his time between education, research, writing and facilitation. He is especially interested in close partnerships with organisations to undertake deep case study research aimed at producing insights that are practical and valuable. He has supported thousands of leaders to design and conduct live experiments in their organisations, testing ideas and optimising performance across a wide range of activities.

Academic Focus

Jessica has a wealth of expertise in translating strategy into action in real business environments. She has designed, led and run numerous client-tailored workshops and training events for LBS over the past 10 years.

Experience

She was formerly a partner at McKinsey, in both London and Johannesburg where she worked with senior leaders in some of the world’s largest corporations and government departments.

Academic Focus

Dominic teaches strategy, values and corporate transformation. He combines his teaching work with independent consultancy assignments and board appointments.

Experience

Dominic is Adjunct Professor in Strategic and Entrepreneurial Management at London Business School, where he has held a Faculty position alongside his other professional interests since 1995.

Previously, Dominic was Group Strategy Director for Blue Circle Industries plc and earlier worked for The Boston Consulting Group in the UK, Spain and Mexico. He is a Governor and Council Member of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and a Board member of the Clore Social Leadership Foundation where he chairs the Audit and Risk Committee.

At London Business School Dominic teaches across the full range of graduate degree programmes and is a multiple winner of teaching awards. He is Academic Director for the School’s Global Business Consortium, which is for small groups of leaders moving into the most senior positions at Oracle, Mars, Johnson & Johnson, BUPA, DP World and Emirates Group. He is also Academic Director and lead Faculty for the School’s open programme, “Executing Strategy for Results”, a one-week programme for leaders from a wide range of UK and international businesses and public sector bodies.

Dominic’s advisory work beyond London Business School focuses on strategy execution, where he brings a unique mix of theory, practical experience, and insight to his work. Currently, he is advising the Executive Board of the Qatar Foundation and senior management of Cello Health plc. From 2013 to 2017 he worked with Deloitte to develop and co-lead the firm’s Growth Escalator programme, for a wide range of CEO’s of UK mid-market clients. In 2019 Dominic co-led a series of workshops for the CEO’s of UK mid-market companies backed by Close Brothers Private Equity, to develop sustainable exit strategies. From 2011 to 2019 he was the lead shareholder and Board member for his family’s farming company in Argentina, directing a successful turnaround and sale of the business.

Dominic’s articles have appeared in a broad range of publications, including Harvard Business Review and MIT Sloan Management Review. In 2019 Kogan Page published his latest co-authored book: “How Philosophy Can Teach You to Be a Better Leader”.

Dominic has an MA in History from Cambridge University, an MBA from Stanford Business School and an MPhil by Research in Philosophy from Buckingham University with Distinction.

David teaches leadership and strategy execution. He integrates theory and practice based on his business experience as a consultancy and his ongoing research into adaptive leadership.

David’s work as an independent consultant includes: the Prudential, Menzies, Colart, Clariant, Ingersol Rand, Kaspersky, Oxford University Press and ABN AMRO.

Experience

David has 35 years of experience in business, consulting and academia. He is a consultant, researcher, sought-after speaker and author working with business leaders across Europe, the US, the Middle East, Africa, China and India. In 2019, David was cited on the Thinkers 50 Radar of top global management thinkers.

David has held senior positions in academia, as head of department and in business as a managing director. As an entrepreneur David has successfully grown and sold businesses in business consulting and software. David is known for designing and facilitating executive programmes that are experiential, memorable and impactful. David led London Business School’s Flagship Senior Executive Programme for 4 years and Executing Strategy for Results programme for 5 years.

David’s research focuses on the ability of teams and organisations to thrive in the face of new, uncertain and complex situations. The findings and applications are published in the Harvard Business Review article, “The Two Traits of the Best Problem-Solving Teams” (2018).

With fellow authors Jules Goddard, Dominic Houlder and Alison Reynolds, David co-authored, “What Philosophy Can Teach You About Being a Better Leader”. The book is an account of how we can reconnect company, people and shareholder interests. It answers perennial leadership concerns regarding strategy formulation and execution, people engagement, key performance indicators and generational differences through the lens of philosophy, with its focus squarely on how to live and help others live fulfilling lives at work.

As a researcher, instructor, and programme director, Stefano has gleaned significant insights on strategy execution — which has become a critical component of the Executing Strategy for Results programme.

In the last few years Stefano has consulted for a number of companies worldwide including Deutsche Bank, Coller Capital, Exterran, Ferrari, Hess Oil, Kyowa Hakko Kirin, Luxottica, Oman Fiber Optic Company, Purdys, Thomson Reuters and VicSuper.

Experience

Stefano is the co-founder of Charles Thames Strategy Partners, a boutique advisory firm assisting CEOs and top teams in formulating and executing strategy. He has worked closely with a multitude of C-suite executives, leading company-wide interventions to remove strategic bottlenecks—all with documented results and far-reaching impact. Stefano holds an MSc in General Management (with distinction) from London Business School and an MSc in Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, and has studied participant-centered learning methods at Harvard Business School. He has published a number of papers, case studies and articles.
