Academic Focus

Dr Selin Kesebir’s research interests include co-operation, competition, gender, inequality and cultural transmission. Her research papers cover topics such as gender differences in response to competition with same-gender co-workers, how the growing disconnect from nature is evident in cultural products, and the effects of disclosing personal information on ethically distinct newcomers to a team.

Experience

Dr Kesebir teaches Executive Leadership and Negotiations at London Business School (LBS). Prior to joining LBS, she was a post-doctoral research associate at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. She is an editorial board member of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, and was previously editor-in-chief and associate editor of In-Mind Magazine. Dr Kesebir has also reviewed various journals including Basic and Applied Social Psychology, British Journal of Social Psychology, Emotion Review, European Journal of Social Psychology and Merrill Palmer Quarterly. She has an MA in cognitive psychology from Northwestern University and a PhD in social psychology from the University of Virginia.

Academic Focus

Niro Sivanathan’s research broadly centres around decision-making, power and status. He is an award-winning teacher of negotiations, decision-making and influence. His research draws on social psychological and evolutionary theories to examine how our judgments, decisions and behaviours are shaped by the psychological experience of status and power within social hierarchies. In addition he also explores how our motivation to maintain the self-integrity influences decision-making.

Experience

His research has been presented at leading international conferences and published in the top international journals in the fields of Science, Management and Psychology. This research has also been translated to practitioner audiences at the Harvard Business Review and a TED Talk. His research has also garnered international press coverage at CNN, Financial Times, Time Magazine, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Sunday Times and Forbes.

Niro is the recipient of numerous teaching awards, including being selected as one of the World's top 40 Best B-School Professors under 40 by Poets and Quants in 2016, and at LBS, the Excellence in Teaching Award, and voted the Best MBA teacher by the graduating class. He has provided advisory and executive education services for organizations such as Credit Suisse, Kearney, YPO, Merck, Central Bank of Turkey, Salesforce and LVHM.

Experience

Dr Aneeta Rattan’s research interests focus on mindsets and intergroup relations (stereotyping, prejudice, and inequity). In one programme of research, she studies mindsets that promote belonging, commitment, and achievement among minorities and women in the face of stereotypes and implicit bias. In another programme of research, she investigates the mindsets that help individuals, organisations, and societies foster positive interactions among diverse group members (across gender, race/ethnicity, and sexual orientation status), even after incidents of explicit bias.

Dr Rattan’s research has been published in the Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Psychological Science, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, and the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology. She has received multiple research grants from major funding agencies in the United States. Her research has also been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes magazine, and Huffington Post among others.

Experience

A member of the prestigious Thinkers50 Radar of global management thinkers, author and TedX speaker, Amy specialises in the topics of leading change, compassion, engagement and burnout at work. She works with leaders to build trust and engagement and to generate positive momentum and motivation in their teams in times of transition and change.

Her research has been published in outlets including the BBC, Harvard Business Review, Management Today, HR Director and Forbes. Her first book, The Human Moment (2019), was longlisted for CMI's Management Book of the year. In it, she argues that leaders and organizations must find ways of becoming more compassionate in an age where our work is increasingly de-humanized. Her second book, Running on Empty (2022), co-authored with Dr Katherine Semler, Senior Partner at Korn Ferry, is a story-based exploration of burnout at work, which has become prevalent across all sectors of the working population in the wake of COVID-19.

Over the past 15 years, Amy has designed and run leadership development programmes for global leaders across industries including media; entertainment; technology; professional services; pharmaceutical; finance; NGOs; healthcare and retail. Amy also serves as an executive and team coach.

Experience

Mark’s work in organisational behavior and entrepreneurship demonstrates how motivational language impacts key outcomes. To measure motivations, he builds linguistic measurement tools suitable for extracting variables from conversations, correspondence, webpages, legal documents, blogs, and other archives.

Mark measures psychological and motivational variables via a field observational study or archival reference. He then proceeds onto pre-registered experiments and replications to pin down causality and identify potential mediators. This work has transcended academic publication to practical use. Thousands of entrepreneurs and many investors and managers have heeded and applied these findings to the pursuit of their organisational goals.

Experience

Dr. Lucy Ford is Professor Emerita at Saint Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, where she served on the faculty for fifteen years, retiring in 2023. She is a guest lecturer at London Business School teaching on topics such as leadership, power and negotiations. She is also a management consultant, working across sectors.

The combination of her rigorous academic background with her extensive corporate and consulting experience has allowed her to become a trusted advisor to many executives and organisational leaders seeking to enhance their strategic thinking and leadership capabilities. She has designed and delivered leadership development programmes for numerous organisations, with demonstrated positive impact on organisational outcomes. Her approach combines cutting-edge research, practical insights, and interactive learning methodologies, empowering organisational members to unlock their potential and drive organisational success. She is a skilled executive and group coach, formalising that skill through the completion of an ICF accredited coaching programme in 2018. In her academic role, Dr. Ford has authored or co-authored over sixty presentations, articles, and book chapters. Her research has been published in Organizational Research Methods, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Human Performance, Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, and Journal of Business and Psychology, amongst others. She has also recently co-edited The SAGE Handbook of Survey Development and Application (2023).

Dr. Ford served on the board of the Research Methods Division of the Academy of Management, and as a member of the Board of Governors of the Southern Management Association. In 2012 she and her co-author, Dr. Ben Hardy, received the Sage Publishing / Research Methods Division Best Paper Award for their work on item miscomprehension in surveys, and also in 2012 she and her coauthors received the Emerald Citation Award for their 2008 scale development paper in the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology. She has also served on the editorial board of Group and Organization Management.
