The paper details the results of a large-scale randomised control trial testing the efficacy of SMAs for glaucoma patients. SMAs allow physicians to treat patients sharing the same condition in a group setting, while continuing to allow patients access to one-to-one care. The researchers showed participants in the SMAs had higher levels of satisfaction and were more knowledgeable about their condition. They were also more likely to comply with their treatment plan.
