Ömer is a PhD student in the department of Management Science and Operations at London Business School. His research focuses on the design of pricing and matching controls for service platforms within the gig economy. Through his research, he aims to: (i) design computationally efficient and practical market algorithms, and (ii) improve social welfare and equity of market outcomes. He has been collaborating with Bolt, Europe’s second-leading ride-hailing platform by market share, on developing and evaluating novel pricing schemes. Prior to his PhD studies, Ömer received BSc and MSc degrees in Industrial Engineering from Bilkent University. He worked as a Data Scientist at a retail analytics firm based in Istanbul, where he worked on an assortment optimization project for a large US retailer. Their assortment decisions were implemented in ~300 stores in US.
