• We have a worldwide reputation for the application of innovative market price and investment models, agent-based simulation techniques, risk analysis and energy econometrics used to:
  

  • model energy and carbon prices

  • forecast demand

  • optimise risk management

  • understand investment drivers

  • understand policy interventions.

EMG carries out policy and industry-wide studies to complement strategic insight at the company level. We provide evidence relating to:

• the reform of the electricity market mechanisms
• the interaction of gas, carbon and electricity markets
• market structure and market power
• investment drivers for the low carbon transition
• consumer engagement and energy efficient infrastucture developments.

• We take on projects for a wide range of organisations and private companies worldwide
• We focus on the liberalisation of markets, investment, pricing and demand-side issues
• We facilitate the exchange of international experiences between analysts and managers
• We regularly host visiting scholars who benefit from participation in our activities.

• Our PhD students take up posts in world class business schools and universities. Several now hold full professor positions
• Energy PhD placements include Harvard, Berkeley, LSE, Oxford, Imperial, Warwick, EUI, Essec and IMD
• We regularly host visiting scholars and PhD students from other universities who work with us on joint research projects. Visitors have joined us from universities and energy research organisations from over 20 different countries worldwide.
