London Business School’s Adjunct Professor of Economics Linda Yueh has been made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire for Services to Economics in the 2023 New Year Honours List.

Acknowledging the honour conferred on Linda, the Dean of London Business School, François Ortalo-Magné, said: “The New Year Honours List recognises the achievements and service of extraordinary people. There could be few more extraordinary than our own colleague, Linda, who has devoted so much of her time to supporting so many important bodies, initiatives, companies and academic institutions like our own here at London Business School. On behalf of London Business School I congratulate Linda on receiving this exceptional and incredibly well-deserved honour.”

Together with her role at London Business School, Linda is a Fellow in Economics at St Edmund Hall, Oxford University, and was a Visiting Professor at LSE IDEAS where she was Chair of the LSE Economic Diplomacy Commission. She is also an Associate Fellow at Chatham House. She serves on the Advisory Board of LSE IDEAS and on the Policy Committee of the Centre for Economic Performance, both at the London School of Economics.

She is an Adviser to the UK Board of Trade and was a Member of the Independent Review Panel on Ring-Fencing and Proprietary Trading of the UK Treasury. She is a Non-Executive Director of Rentokil Initial plc, SEGRO plc and Standard Chartered plc as well as Chair of Baillie Gifford’s The Schiehallion Fund Ltd. She is Executive Chair of the Royal Commonwealth Society and Trustee of the Coutts Foundation where she is Chair of the Audit, Finance and Investment Committee.

One of the world’s leading economists, Linda is also an accomplished writer and financial broadcaster. Her latest book, The Great Crashes: Lessons from Global Crashes and How to Prevent Them, is out on 18 May 2023. Her previous book, The Great Economists: How Their Ideas Can Help Us Today, was selected as The Times's Best Business Books of the Year. She was previously BBC Chief Business Correspondent and Economics Editor at Bloomberg TV.
